Construction Theme Bedrooms

A construction theme bedroom is the perfect choice for little boys who love playing in sandboxes with miniature dump trucks, bulldozers, toy cranes and cement mixer trucks. There are many construction bedding sets, comforters and quilts to choose from, with many having coordinating accessories. Choosing the bedding first will provide for opportunity to then choose wall color and area rugs that further enhance the construction theme. Another option for bedding, especially for older boys, would be a solid color comforter, such as black, blue or red, teamed with throw cushions that have cranes, bulldozers, and construction zone sign motifs.

There are many different ways to treat the walls for a construction theme bedroom. You can simply choose a preferred color that exists in the bedding. Bright blue often works well as it provides a great contrast to the yellow, orange and reds that are usually found in construction
bedding sets. Navy blue or grey on the bottom of the wall, with white on the top portion, also works well. You can apply caution tape or hazard warning tape at the border.

Creative Design Ideas:

1. Try using one wall, and painting a large mural of a residential area, with criss-crossing roads. There is also a wide array of walls murals and borders that can be purchased with construction theme motifs. You can use craft paint to paint dump trucks, cement mixers and cranes on the wall, or apply peel and stick wall decals.

2. Many of the construction bedding sets also have construction wall art available. Another option is to cut out photos of bulldozers and dump trucks from books and magazines, and place them in frames, to be hung on the walls, or gathered in small groups on dressers. You can also find a wide variety of stock art available on line. This is a fun option if you are familiar with Adobe Photoshop or similar program. Stock art of construction scenes, and vehicles can be enhanced by adding your child's name to the images prior to printing.

3. With construction bedding sets, often you will find coordinating room decor, such as construction area rugs, curtains, throw cushions, and construction lamps.

4. Paint window and door frames yellow or black. Apply construction, yield and stop signs to
the walls. Frame building blueprints and hang them on the wall. There is also construction theme hardware, such as dump truck drawer pulls, that add a great finishing touch. Display construction
vehicles on shelves or dressers, and hang a hard hat on a hook on the wall.
Find or paint on an existing table, criss-crossed roads, street signs, and stoplights. This can be a fun place for your child to drive his miniature vehicles around.
