Canadian Log Homes - Windows & Doors

Canadian Log Homes built in B.C. Canada - Shipping Available Worldwide

Doors and Windows

Door and window openings must be cut precisely in order to ensure that a calculated tolerance is provided for the effects of settling. In order to allow adequate settling space above both doors and windows, a "buck" (a stable frame of dimensional lumber) is used to securely hold windows and doors into place within the wall system.

This settling space is hidden from view, and filled with insulation that has the capacity to compress. As the log walls gradually dry in the first year or so, they settle into the space provided above the windows and doors.

All openings in our log packages have a trim area cut on both the interior and exterior. A 9-1/4 " jam is standard. Each opening also has a keyway slot cut in the ends of both sides

.
